Blue light
glasses FAQ

What is blue light, and why is blocking it important?

Blue light is a type of visible light that falls within the range of 380-500 nanometers. It is emitted by screens such as computers, laptops, and TVs.
Blue light directly stimulates our brains, acting like a bright ray of sunlight during the day, signaling us to wake up, work, or play. Exposure to blue light at night, when there is no sunlight, can confuse our bodies into thinking it's still daytime, making it difficult to fall asleep.
This disruption of our natural sleep-wake cycle, the natural sleep-wake cycle, can result in difficulties falling asleep and waking up in the morning. Blue light blocking glasses can help reduce exposure to blue light from screens, improving sleep quality and reducing eye strain.

Can I add blue light blocking lenses to prescription glasses?

Certainly! If you're a frequent user of digital devices like smartphones, monitors, laptops, and TVs, we highly recommend opting for the blue light blocking option in addition to UV protection for your prescription glasses.
We include blue light blocking lenses as a standard offering. Although our lenses are designed to minimize color distortion, we know how important color accuracy is for creators. Therefore, the option to remove the blue light blocking feature is exclusive to the creator collection.

Is the color of blue light lenses important?

No, it's not crucial. While it's known that lenses with a higher blue light blocking rate may appear more yellow or amber, we've discovered blue light blocking lenses with a clear color. We're excited to introduce lenses that have minimal color change, effectively blocking blue light without a noticeable tint.

What is Seoul Optics' blue light blocking rate?

We commissioned testing by the Korea Accreditation Service (KOLAS), which is part of the Mutual Recognition Arrangement (MRA) of the International Laboratory Accreditation Cooperation (ILAC).

The results are as follows:
- For Index 1.6 and 1.67: 99% in the 380-410nm spectrum
- For Index 1.74: 99% in the 380-405nm spectrum

Is it okay to wear blue light glasses all day?

Yes! (Please do!) Our lenses are made from high-quality materials and are completely safe for all-day wear. In fact, every member of our team wears our blue light blocking glasses throughout the day.
If you have blue light blocking glasses, we suggest wearing them consistently for optimal sleep, especially if you regularly use digital devices.
